SMARTIES!!!!!

I just love those little candies that look like baby aspirins-SMARTIES!!!!  Our church has a vendor booth inside of the Sumter County (SC) Civic Center this week during the Sumter County Fair.  We've been able to hand out Gospel tracts to people attending the fair-trying to get the Word out about Jesus!
We have special cartoon childrens' tracts there and some Sunday School papers that we hand out to the children, but every child (and some adults) also get a roll of SMARTIES!!!!  I remember as a child eating the SMARTIES!!!! and calling them "my medicine."  I know that's silly, but it's a valid memory!
Anyway, the candies don't look like they amount to much, but they sure are sweet.  I had an unexpected blessing today.  As many of you know, I have returned to college for my official teacher certification; and you know me, I do everything the hard way.  I drive two hours once a week for face-to-face Education class (and once every other week on Monday's for the Math class.)  This first
eight-weeks mini-mester has been tough, but we are on week six already.  I can hardly believe it!  The bummer about all of this is that the classes have all been on Wednesday nights.  So the preacher's wife has been out of church for the past five weeks...Hmmmm!
Well, I addressed the issue with one of my advisers, and come to find out, there were others in my class who also had to step out of ministries in their church on Wednesday nights to be able to attend class.  So, today we received emails that they changed the classes from Wednesdays to Tuesdays for the next eight weeks!  What a surprise blessing!  This has been a hard time for me-I am still seeking formal employment while attempting to write and excel in my classes; I had all but accepted the fact that I would be out of church on Wednesday nights for the next year!  But, praise the Lord for the sweet surprise that I received today.  It may not look like much to some people, but much like my SMARTIES!!!! it sure sweetened my day!
Keep praying for me as I try to serve the Lord through writing His stories!

The Collage: A Collection of Short Stories

From The Collage

"When told that I had to go back to college, my heart fell. At that point in my life, I had two teenage children and I had a two-hour daily commute. Adding more college classes to my already hectic schedule was not something that I wanted to do. However, as it is with most of life’s twists and turns, this route was one that was divinely designed. Even though I had written two books already, these assignments really brought out something in me and my writing. I learned more about myself than I ever wanted to admit! I thank God for those two years of late night work. Some of these pieces will make you laugh; some will make you think; and some will shock you! So, my words to you are, enjoy the ride."
